Dimitar Kovachevski called Hristiyan Mitkoski to congratulate him on his election victory, announced the chairman of VMRO-DPMNE, who will most likely receive the mandate to form the new government of North Macedonia, in an interview on Channel 5 last night, BTA reported.

According to him, with the achieved result, the coalition of parties of Albanians "Deserves", opposition to the Democratic Union for Integration (DSI), can be a reliable partner in the future government, which will lead the coalition headed by VMRO-DPMNE, Mickoski announced . He added that until the constitution of the parliament on May 28, VMRO-DPMNE wants to secure the support of at least 61 deputies, because there are signals from people from other coalitions who “may lean” to them. The goal is together with “It is worth it” to have 74 or 75 deputies in the 120-seat parliament of North Macedonia.

In response to a question, did VMRO-DPMNE talk to "Levitsa" and ZNAM, which will each have five deputies in the future parliament, Mickoski stated that talks will be held with all parties, as well as with all deputies about “the visions and policies that the future government plans to implement”. However, he clarified that he does not expect the DSI to change their position and support their policy.

Today, VMRO-DPMNE announced the framework in which they will hold talks on a possible future governing coalition. One of the principles in it is formulated as “realization of the strategic interest in European integration through dialogue and observance of principles”, and in response to a question about the changes in the country's constitution, which are a condition for the start of negotiations between North Macedonia and the EU, answered that the position of VMRO-DPMNE ”on this matter is clear”.

“I don't see what is so terrible after we have an annex to the Friendship and Good Neighbor Treaty with Bulgaria, to have another annex to it, in which we will see what principles we will present and with what we will enter into these talks. With such a concept as the current one we have no intention of supporting it. We are not entering into this process for political gymnastics or to show how tough we are. We do not believe that this is the real process (of joining the EU). Because for this process to be real, we must have a clear plan presented on the other side. We have no clear plan other than bare rhetoric that we should trust them. But, wait, gentlemen, we have been trusting you for more than two decades”, declared Mitkoski, who, when asked by the host for clarification, indicated that he was still talking about the EU, because “the EU is leading this process, and Bulgaria is part of it”.< br />
"The EU says that the changes to the constitution must be made and we will automatically start the negotiations," the presenter added. “And we say: OK, but this will happen immediately after we enter the EU. And let's now talk about what we are going to do from this moment on”, reacted Mickoski.

And to the reply that the Bulgarian Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev indicated that Bulgaria will not make any more concessions to North Macedonia, Mitkoski replied “ Then we will take up our tasks here and wait for someone sensible to come with whom we can talk” , and the Bulgarian Prime Minister should be asked the question of what Bulgaria has backed away from.

“I don't see what Bulgaria has given up on. I see no such thing. For the first time, a bilateral treaty is part of a negotiating framework. Such a thing does not exist in any case. Good neighborly relations are a completely different thing and there are international criteria for what good neighborly relations mean. I'm talking about a bilateral contract, show me another such example. There is no. I am ready to go and argue our positions anywhere in the world," Mickoski pointed out.

Politicians from the preferred coalition partner of VMRO-DPMNE “It deserves” (VREDI), have repeatedly stated that the adoption of the changes in the constitution, in order for North Macedonia to continue on the European path, are their condition to participate in the government. Asked if this was not a problem for him, Mickoski stated that he did not want to make a contract “in the spirit of ultimatums” and if VMRO-DPMNE respects the voters of “Deserves” and they must respect the voters of VMRO-DPMNE.

“I would not like us to get into a situation where we will negotiate with ultimatums. This is wrong... No one is against the European future, on the contrary, but I cannot accept that what is put on the table you either take it or leave it. This is an ultimatum and has nothing to do with European values, nor was I involved in negotiating this ultimatum. Moreover, we offered to be part of this process. We were refused. VMRO-DPMNE and the Macedonian people cannot pay for the mistakes of some unreasonable or inexperienced politicians... After the December summit, not a single politician in Brussels can convince me that the rule of unanimous decision is valid. It is no longer valid after an empty chair happened when decisions were made... So if you want, you can. So we have to stop being in a subordinate position and we have to show character if we want to be respected ”, Mickoski stated.
