Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted to the lower house of the Russian Parliament - the State Duma, the candidacy for Prime Minister of the country's current Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin , reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
The news comes from the chairman of the Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin.
"President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin submitted to the State Duma a request for the candidacy of Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin for the post of Prime Minister,'' Volodin wrote today on his channel in the Telegram application.
58-year-old Mishustin has been at the head of the government since January 2020. He succeeded the resigned Dmitry Medvedev as prime minister.
This decision by Putin was reported by Reuters on May 7, shortly before his inauguration as President of Russia for a fifth term.
