Fourteen people were injured in eastern Germany after the covered trailer of the tractor that was driving them overturned, DPA reported, quoted from BTA.
The incident happened during celebrations yesterday on the occasion of the Catholic Ascension of Christ (celebrated in our country as Savior's Day) in the province of Thuringia.
Two of the injured passengers - a 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman - have serious injuries, says DPA, referring to information from the police from yesterday evening. Two helicopters with emergency teams responded to the scene near the village of Doina, about one hundred and forty kilometers east of the city of Leipzig.
Twelve people suffered minor injuries, including the tractor driver, who is under investigation for causing bodily harm due to negligence.
"It is forbidden for a tractor to move with this type of trailer", states the local "Thuringer Allgemeine Zeitung" the regional deputy head of Eichsfeld - Andreas Pfroth. "We warn people every day. But it happens anyway," he adds.
DPA recalls that only a dozen days ago - during a parade on the occasion of May 1 Labor Day - 30 people were injured in a similar incident in the province of Baden-Württemberg.
