The charges against Hunter Biden for illegal possession of weapons remain - 1

A judicial panel of a federal appeals court yesterday rejected the request of the son of the US president Joe Biden - Hunter , to drop the charges against him related to illegal possession of weapons, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The agency indicated that the obstacles to the initiation of a trial against him on June 3, which will be the first case in American history against a child of a sitting president, have been removed.

A three-judge panel of the Third District Court of Appeal in Philadelphia ruled that Biden Jr. cannot appeal the charges because the lower court has not yet issued a final ruling on the case.

Shortly after the appeals court's ruling, Delaware State Judge Mariellen Noreyka ordered a trial lasting up to six days to begin June 3 in Wilmington. Hunter Biden's lawyers have announced that they will ask all appeals court judges to review this panel's decision.

"I think the issues in this case are very important, and therefore our request for reconsideration of the court decision is well-founded," said in a statement the lawyer of the accused - Abby Lowell.

The president's son has been charged with two counts of lying about not using illegal controlled substances while in possession of a firearm, which is a felony in the United States, and one count of illegally possessing that gun. Hunter Biden purchased pistol "Colt Cobra .38 Special" in 2018, Reuters recalls.
